Acklam Pet Care

Dog Walking

Since 2011

Hi my name is Stuart French and I set up Acklam Pet Care in May 2011.

When I grew up in Linthorpe I was one of six children and we always had lots of pets: a Boxer named Prince, a Cat named Tibby, Rabbits, Tortoises, Fish, I think my brother even had a Snake! As I grew older we had 2 miniature Dachshunds named Pepe & Cass and later a West Highland Terrier named Scottie.

My wife and I have had several rescue cats the last being Smudge a lovely black and white cat, he had a lovely gentle nature but sadly died in February 2010.

We decided that we could now offer a rescue dog a home but after touring the centres and speaking to staff we realised that most of the dogs were not suitable for a family with young children. We took the plunge and got a young puppy, a Border Terrier that we named Dandi. He was born in January 2010 and we quickly all fell in love with him. In October 2014 we got a little sister for Dandi, the lovely Abbi, another Border Terrier. She was just 8 weeks old when she joined our family. I'm pleased to say both have turned into lovely, healthy, friendly dogs.

I have previously managed large retail stores (or sheds as they are known) for Bed Retailers and before that worked in our family business of Wholesale Fruit Merchants. I have also helped Teesside Hospice raise much needed funds by recruiting new members for their successful lottery.

As a dog owner myself I know the problems you can have leaving your dog home alone all day. A 50 minute "group social walk" will break the day up for your dog. After the walk most of the dogs are tired so have an afternoon nap, ready for your return!
